In the summer, the government asked the Chairman of Network Rail, Sir Peter Hendy, to review all rail enhancements to be delivered by 2019, and it is understood that a recommendation to delay completion of the Oxford to Bedford link by three years to 2022, and other elements of the western section of the line to as late as 2026.

Dunsley Farm and Farmer Phil Marks is a well-known supporter of town activities and also supported the Tring Apple Day festivities on 4th October at Jeacock's Orchard in Cow Lane with a tempting display of a wide varieties of local apples for sale.
Citizens of Tring well remember the crowds gathered five years ago at the town's war memorial in Church Square to pay their respects to Corporal David Barnsdale, 24, from 33 Engineer Regiment who was killed in Afghanistan when caught in the blast of a roadside bomb. Corporal Barnsdale was in command of a Royal Engineers Search Team. He and his team were responsible for the detection of improvised explosive devices in areas deemed to be high risk.
